This qualification covers workers who provide support for the effective functioning of health services, requiring discretion and judgment. These functions are carried out under supervision. Health Support Services do not involve direct care assistance tasks such as assisting other staff with care of clients. Fifteen units must be selected for this qualification including four compulsory units and eleven electives.

Compulsory:

• Communicate and work effectively in health
• Comply with infection control policies and procedures in health work
• Participate in OHS processes
• Contribute to effective relationships

Elective:

• Plan and implement production within a work team
• Participate in production planning process
• Perform tasks to support production
• Perform test/inspection to check product quality
• Coordinate and process products for storage or dispatch
• Coordinate work of team/section
• Perform minor maintenance
• Coordinate production
• Respond effectively to difficult or challenging behaviour
• Follow safe manual handling practices
• Participate in the work environment
