ERTIFICATE IV IN COMMUNITY SERVICES WORKCHC40708
This qualification covers workers who provide a range of services and interventions to clients, and/or implement health promotion and community interventions. Work may take place in a range of contexts such as community based organisations, rehabilitation services and outreach services. This qualification defines the knowledge and skills for support workers who work autonomously under the broad guidance of others.
Fourteen units must be undertaken to obtain this qualification including all compulsory units and four electives.
Compulsory units

- Utilise specialist communication skills to build strong relationships
- Deliver and develop client services
- Work within a legal and ethical framework
- Respond holistically to client issues
- Work effectively with culturally diverse clients and co-workers
- Maintain an effective work environment
- Implement and monitor OHS policies and procedures for a workplace
- Maintain organisation's information systems
Electives (select 5)
- Orientation to aged care work
- Respond to difficult or challenging behaviour
- Provide care support which is responsive to the specific nature of dementia
- Meet the dietary and nutritional needs of clients in a culturally appropriate manner
- Provide services to an older person with complex needs
- Support the older person to meet their emotional and psychological needs
- Plan for and provide care services using a palliative approach
- Orientation to disability work
- Orientation to mental health work
- Provide physical assistance with medication
- Advocate for clients
